Debit & Credit 7.1: New Attachments Manager

Debit & Credit

We all occasionally buy expensive things that have some kind of a warranty period. Not all merchants provide digital receipts and keeping a photo of a paper receipt is sometimes the only way to have a proof of your purchase.

Debit & Credit has supported transaction attachments (files) for years. You can attach a photo or any other file to a transaction. But what happens after 4–5 years when you have too many files and some of them are no longer relevant?

This is where the new attachment manager becomes super useful.

Flexible Design

The best part of the new manager is how it is implemented on different platforms. It has its own design for iPhone, iPad and Mac.

List View — iPhone

On the iPhone the list view mode is focused on what a file is about. You can see its transaction description, when it was created and its size.

Table View — iPad

On the iPad and Mac there is more space and the app is using the table mode instead. You will see all information broken down into different table columns, including file type.

And of course if you want to see your attachments as thumbnails, you can switch to the grid view mode instead.

Powerful Features

You can do a lot of things in the new manager:

  • select multiple files to either delete them or share with someone else
  • select multiple files to preview only selected files using Quick Look (Mac only)
  • drag and drop files to save them somewhere else
  • search by transaction description, file name
  • sort files by size or by date

The new manager is available in the latest update (version 7.1) on devices running iOS 17 and/or macOS 14 Sonoma. You can find it in the menu bar on the Mac and in the app settings in the iOS app.

Other New Features

With the upcoming release of iOS 18 and macOS 15 Sequoia I have added a number of new small things:

  • as you type in a search field on Mac, you will see suggestions for metadata items (macOS 15 required)
  • added dark and tinted app icons for iOS 18
  • improved transaction entry in watchOS 11
Search suggestions in macOS 15

I hope that you will enjoy the latest update as much as I do :)
