Debit & Credit

This is a big release that contains both iOS 15 and macOS 12 specific features as well as general improvements. Let’s get into it!

Improved Statement Reconciliation

When reconciling with a bank statement, it is often easier to have transactions listed in the same order as on your bank statement. Now you can drag and drop transactions when in the statement reconciliation mode. Your transactions will have a new date once you complete a drop.

What I like about this new feature is that it is fully reversible. You can always undo it. To use undo, press Command + Z or swipe with your three fingers to the left in iOS.

Another new feature is the ability to filter transactions by user when reconciling them. The filter will appear whenever an account is shared in the app with someone else. For example, if your credit card has a supplementary holder and you want to see just their transactions while reconciling — now you can do that.

Improved Financial Plans

Previously when looking at a financial plan you could see your opening balance, how much was your net wealth change in the current period and your ending balance. In the new update, the app will also display your income and expense for the same period.

New Icons for Accounts and Folders (iOS 15, macOS 12 Required)

Since last year you can choose custom icons for your accounts and folders. Now you have 10 more icons to choose from!

Copy Scheduled Transaction Amount

Sometimes you have a bill to pay and you just want to copy and then paste its amount into a banking app. Now it is very easy to do that, just tap on a scheduled transaction and select the relevant action (or right-click on the Mac).

Swipe To Create a Transaction on Apple Watch (watchOS 8 Required)

You can now quickly create a new transaction on Apple Watch by swiping on an account either to the left or to the right.

Mac Menu Bar Reorganized

I have made some changes to the Mac app menu bar, the Import / Export menu bar was moved into the “File” menu alongside some other actions. The new “Transaction” menu exposes what was previously available only when you right-clicked a transaction.

Support for Shortcuts app in macOS Monterey

As you probably know, Shortcuts are now available on the Mac. If you are into automation, you can use the Debit & Credit shortcut in macOS Monterey.

Privacy Related Improvements

When an account widget is used in iOS 15 on the lock screen, its balance is automatically hidden when a device is locked. The same happens on Apple Watch with account balances that are displayed in the app when your watch enters the always-on display mode.
